About this star lantern cookie cutter
Star-shaped lanterns hang from balconies across India during Diwali, and this cutter is a simple, sturdy version: a five-point star with a short hook on top and a single long tassel hanging below. At the default 95 mm it is about 95 mm tall and 78 mm wide; the tassel is roughly 34 mm long and 7 mm wide.
The star’s points are broad, so they cut and release easily. The tassel is the delicate part: keep the cutter at 90 mm or larger and lift the cookie from the star end, supporting the tassel with a spatula. If you prefer a plain star, the Christmas star template in the same generator has no tassel.
To make it glow, outline the star in white, fill it with yellow and blend orange in from the points while wet for an ombré, then finish the tassel in red or pink. Arrange several at different heights on a cake as edible lantern toppers.

Decorating idea
Outline the star in white and fill with a yellow-to-orange ombré for a glowing look.
Printing this cutter
- Material: PLA or PETG, ideally a filament sold as suitable for food contact
- Settings: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layers, 2–3 walls, no supports – the STL is already rim-down
- Blade: 1.0 mm thick and 15 mm tall by default; use 1.2 mm above 120 mm
- Print time: roughly 25–40 minutes at the default size
