About this rangoli cookie cutter
This cutter cuts an eight-pointed medallion: a round centre ringed by eight pointed rays, 90 × 90 mm at the default size. It cuts the outline only, and that is deliberate. Rangoli is all about colour, so the cookie gives you a flat, even canvas to paint on instead of a busy relief that would fight your icing.
The rays are short and broad at the base, so the dough releases cleanly and the points survive the move to the baking tray. That makes it one of the easiest Diwali shapes for children and for softer doughs that spread a little, such as nankhatai.
To decorate, flood the cookie white or pale yellow, let it crust, then pipe rings from the centre outwards in pink, orange, green and blue, and drag a toothpick from the middle to each point for a classic rangoli burst. Rangoli cookies look best in a group: print a second cutter at 60 mm and lay big and small cookies in a circle on a platter for a table-top rangoli you can eat.

Pipe concentric rings in bright pink, yellow and green, then add a single silver ball in the middle.
Printing this cutter
- Material: PLA or PETG, ideally a filament sold as suitable for food contact
- Settings: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layers, 2–3 walls, no supports – the STL is already rim-down
- Blade: 1.0 mm thick and 15 mm tall by default; use 1.2 mm above 120 mm
- Print time: roughly 25–40 minutes at the default size
