About this santa face cookie cutter
Santa’s face is one of the best-loved Christmas cookies, and the outline does most of the work for you: a floppy hat leaning to the right with a round pompom, a wide fur brim, and a round face that ends in a curly, scalloped beard. At the default 90 mm the cookie is 90 mm tall and about 83 mm wide; the brim is about 68 mm wide and the pompom about 16 mm across.
The beard is made of five overlapping round curls, each about 19–23 mm across, so the bottom edge is bumpy but has no thin parts. The pompom overlaps the tip of the hat to stay attached. It is a compact, sturdy shape that cuts well from 60 mm up, and at 120 mm it makes an impressive gift cookie.
Santa faces are the shape that most rewards a little decorating time – red hat, white fur and beard, a pink face and two dots for eyes – but even a quick version with just red and white icing reads clearly. Pair them with Santa Hat and Sleigh cookies for a Santa-themed plate.
Size guide
The Size setting is the cookie’s longest side. This is how big the santa face cookie comes out at a few common sizes – the generator shows the exact numbers for any size from 30 to 200 mm.
| Size setting | Cookie (width × height) | Blade | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60 mm | 55 × 60 mm | 1.0 mm | Bite-size cookies, cupcake and drink toppers |
| 90 mm | 83 × 90 mm | 1.0 mm | Default – a standard cookie, fits most gift boxes |
| 120 mm | 110 × 120 mm | 1.0 mm | Large gift cookies and centrepieces |
Dough and baking tips
A pale sugar cookie or vanilla shortbread suits Santa because the face is often left un-iced or only lightly tinted. Roll to 5–6 mm and chill. The beard curls bake evenly; the pompom is the smallest part and is done when the brim edges just turn golden.
Decorating ideas
- Flood the hat red, the face pale pink, and pipe the brim, pompom, beard and moustache in thick white icing.
- Press the wet white beard and brim into desiccated coconut for a fluffy texture.
- Add two small dark dots for eyes and a dab of pink for a nose and rosy cheeks.
Printing this cutter
