About this christmas tree with star cookie cutter

Christmas tree with star cookie cutter outline: a five-point star on top of three tiers with curved, garland-like bottoms and a short trunk
Christmas Tree with Star cookie cutter outline – the cookie comes out in this shape.

This is the dressed-up version of the classic tree: a five-point star sits on top, and each of the three tiers has a curved bottom edge that hangs like a garland. The star overlaps the top tier, so the whole cookie cuts and lifts in one piece. At the default 95 mm it is 95 mm tall and about 69 mm wide; the star is about 25 mm across and the trunk about 12 mm wide.

The star is the finest part of the shape. Its points are short and broad, and at 95 mm they bake well in a chilled dough. If you want smaller trees, keep them at 70 mm or more, or raise Smoothing a little so the star points come out rounded – below that, choose the plain Christmas Tree template instead.

Use the two tree templates together for variety on a cookie board: plain trees in green, starred trees with a gold star. The curved tiers are made for decorating – each one is a ready-made garland line to pipe along.

Size guide

The Size setting is the cookie’s longest side. This is how big the christmas tree with star cookie comes out at a few common sizes – the generator shows the exact numbers for any size from 30 to 200 mm.

Dough and baking tips

Gingerbread and sugar cookie dough both work; the important thing is a dough that does not spread, so the star keeps its shape. Roll to 5 mm, cut, and chill the tray for 15 minutes. Lift each cookie with a spatula under the middle tier, never by the star.

Decorating ideas

  • Flood the tiers green and the star yellow, then brush the star with gold lustre once dry.
  • Pipe a white or gold garland along each curved tier edge and dot it with coloured sprinkles as lights.
  • Leave the tree bare gingerbread and decorate only the star – simple, and quick for a big batch.

Printing this cutter

  • Material: PLA or PETG, ideally a filament sold as suitable for food contact
  • Settings: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layers, 2–3 walls, no supports – the STL is already rim-down
  • Blade: 1.0 mm thick and 15 mm tall by default; use 1.2 mm above 120 mm
  • Print time: roughly 25–40 minutes at the default size
Food safety: 3D printed cutters have small gaps between layers that can trap dough. Use them for short contact with chilled dough, wash by hand in warm (not hot) soapy water, dry them straight away and keep PLA out of the dishwasher. Replace a cutter once it is scratched or stained.
