About this christmas light cookie cutter
Old-fashioned Christmas lights – the big teardrop bulbs – are a fun, retro cookie shape. This outline has a rectangular socket about 16 mm wide on top and a glass bulb that swells out and narrows to a blunt point at the bottom. At the default 85 mm the cookie is 85 mm tall and about 38 mm wide.
Like the candle, the light is narrow, so you can fit many on one tray. The socket and bulb overlap generously, and the bottom point is blunt, so the cookie has no weak spots. It works well from 60 mm up.
Christmas lights are all about the group. Bake a batch, flood each bulb in a different bright colour – red, green, blue, yellow, pink – and lay them along a wavy line of piped or liquorice “wire” across a platter or the top of a sheet cake. They also make a cheerful border for a cookie box.
Size guide
The Size setting is the cookie’s longest side. This is how big the christmas light cookie comes out at a few common sizes – the generator shows the exact numbers for any size from 30 to 200 mm.

Dough and baking tips
Any rolled dough works. Roll to 5–6 mm and chill. If you want really bright bulbs without much icing, colour small batches of sugar cookie dough before rolling – the colours stay brighter if you bake until the cookies are only just set and still pale.
Decorating ideas
- Flood each bulb in a different bright colour and paint the socket silver or grey.
- Add a small white highlight stripe on one side of the bulb while the icing is wet, so it looks like shiny glass.
- Arrange them along a piped black or liquorice wire on the plate as a light garland.
Printing this cutter
- Material: PLA or PETG, ideally a filament sold as suitable for food contact
- Settings: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layers, 2–3 walls, no supports – the STL is already rim-down
- Blade: 1.0 mm thick and 15 mm tall by default; use 1.2 mm above 120 mm
- Print time: roughly 25–40 minutes at the default size
