About this ghost cookie cutter

Ghost cookie cutter outline: a rounded floating ghost with both arms raised out to the sides and a wavy bottom edge
Ghost cookie cutter outline – the cookie comes out in this shape.

This ghost has a tall rounded head, two arms stretched out to the sides and a wavy bottom hem, like a sheet blowing in the wind. At the default 90 mm the cookie is 90 mm tall and about 88 mm wide from hand to hand. The body is about 57 mm wide and each arm is about 13 mm thick, so nothing snaps off when you lift the cookie.

There are no sharp corners anywhere in the outline: the head, the hands and the hem are all rounded. That makes the ghost one of the easiest cutters in the collection to cut and bake, and a good first choice for children’s baking sessions. It reads clearly as a ghost from about 50 mm up to 150 mm.

Ghost cookies need almost no decorating skill. White icing and two dots for eyes are enough, and an open “O” mouth makes it look as if it is saying boo. The arms also make the ghost easy to stand a little name tag against, so it works as a place card at a Halloween party.

Size guide

The Size setting is the cookie’s longest side. This is how big the ghost cookie comes out at a few common sizes – the generator shows the exact numbers for any size from 30 to 200 mm.

Dough and baking tips

Any rolled cookie dough works because the outline is rounded and compact. Roll to 5–6 mm. Vanilla sugar cookies or shortbread keep the ghost pale under white icing, while chocolate dough makes a striking dark ghost outlined in white. Chill the cut shapes for 10 minutes so the wavy hem stays crisp in the oven.

Decorating ideas

  • Flood the ghost in bright white royal icing and add two black oval eyes and an open black mouth while the base is still wet.
  • Brush a thin layer of white candy melts on chocolate cookies and leave the edges showing for a spooky outline.
  • Pipe a tiny pink blush on each cheek, or give the ghost a little bow tie or a witch hat for a party set.

Printing this cutter

  • Material: PLA or PETG, ideally a filament sold as suitable for food contact
  • Settings: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layers, 2–3 walls, no supports – the STL is already rim-down
  • Blade: 1.0 mm thick and 15 mm tall by default; use 1.2 mm above 120 mm
  • Print time: roughly 25–40 minutes at the default size
Food safety: 3D printed cutters have small gaps between layers that can trap dough. Use them for short contact with chilled dough, wash by hand in warm (not hot) soapy water, dry them straight away and keep PLA out of the dishwasher. Replace a cutter once it is scratched or stained.
