About this black cat cookie cutter

Black cat cookie cutter outline: a sitting cat silhouette with pointed ears, a round head and a tail curling up at its side
Black Cat cookie cutter outline – the cookie comes out in this shape.

This cat sits upright with a round head, two pointed ears and a long tail that curls up at its right side. At the default 95 mm the cookie is 95 mm tall and about 74 mm wide. The head is about 32 mm across, the ears stand about 8 mm above it, and the tail is about 8 mm thick – enough to stay attached when you lift the cookie.

The outline is a silhouette, which is exactly how black cats appear on Halloween decorations, so a cocoa dough cookie needs no icing to be recognisable. Add two yellow eyes and it becomes a cat looking straight at you. The flat base means the cookie can also stand against a cup or a box as a little decoration.

Below about 70 mm the tail gets thin enough to brown before the body is done, so for small cats bake a minute less and check the tray. At 100–120 mm the body has room for a name, a message or a spooky moon behind the cat.

Size guide

The Size setting is the cookie’s longest side. This is how big the black cat cookie comes out at a few common sizes – the generator shows the exact numbers for any size from 30 to 200 mm.

Dough and baking tips

Black cocoa or a dark chocolate cookie dough makes a true black cat. Roll to 5–6 mm, cut, and chill for 15 minutes so the ears stay pointed. Lift each cookie with a spatula slid under the body so the tail is not bent, and let the cookies cool on the tray for a few minutes before you move them.

Decorating ideas

  • Leave the cat plain and pipe two yellow or green almond-shaped eyes with black slit pupils.
  • Flood the cat in black icing and add a tiny pink nose, white whiskers and a bright collar with a gold bell.
  • Pipe a pale yellow crescent moon behind the cat on a round plaque cookie and stick the cat on top for a layered cookie.

Printing this cutter

  • Material: PLA or PETG, ideally a filament sold as suitable for food contact
  • Settings: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layers, 2–3 walls, no supports – the STL is already rim-down
  • Blade: 1.0 mm thick and 15 mm tall by default; use 1.2 mm above 120 mm
  • Print time: roughly 25–40 minutes at the default size
Food safety: 3D printed cutters have small gaps between layers that can trap dough. Use them for short contact with chilled dough, wash by hand in warm (not hot) soapy water, dry them straight away and keep PLA out of the dishwasher. Replace a cutter once it is scratched or stained.
