About this snow globe cookie cutter

Snow globe cookie cutter outline: a large round globe sitting on a wide trapezoid base
Snow Globe cookie cutter outline – the cookie comes out in this shape.

A snow globe cookie is a little picture frame: the round globe is about 70 mm across at the default 90 mm, and it sits on a wide base that flares out to about 68 mm at the bottom. The whole cookie is 90 mm tall and about 70 mm wide, and it stands on its flat base.

There are no thin parts at all, so this is one of the easiest Christmas cutters to bake and a great shape for decorating parties. The large globe gives you room for a scene – a tree, a snowman, a house, a name – and the base is a natural place for a message or a date. It still looks like a snow globe at 50 mm.

Snow globes make memorable personalised cookies: pipe a family name or a child’s initial in the globe, or paint a tiny version of your own house. They pair well with Polar Bear, Penguin and Snowman cookies for a winter-wonderland plate.

Size guide

The Size setting is the cookie’s longest side. This is how big the snow globe cookie comes out at a few common sizes – the generator shows the exact numbers for any size from 30 to 200 mm.

Dough and baking tips

A pale sugar cookie dough gives the best background for a painted scene. Roll to 5–6 mm and chill. For a see-through globe, cut a circle out of the centre with a small round cutter before baking and fill it with crushed clear boiled sweets – they melt into a glassy window (let the cookies cool completely on the tray before you move them).

Decorating ideas

  • Flood the globe in pale blue, let it dry, then pipe a small tree or snowman inside and dot white snow all over.
  • Flood the base in red, gold or wood brown and write a name or the year on it.
  • Sprinkle edible glitter or white nonpareils over the wet globe icing for falling snow.

Printing this cutter

  • Material: PLA or PETG, ideally a filament sold as suitable for food contact
  • Settings: 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.2 mm layers, 2–3 walls, no supports – the STL is already rim-down
  • Blade: 1.0 mm thick and 15 mm tall by default; use 1.2 mm above 120 mm
  • Print time: roughly 25–40 minutes at the default size
Food safety: 3D printed cutters have small gaps between layers that can trap dough. Use them for short contact with chilled dough, wash by hand in warm (not hot) soapy water, dry them straight away and keep PLA out of the dishwasher. Replace a cutter once it is scratched or stained.
